The Big Camping Gear Hunt

Great Ride and Scenery!

Adam K. - 2005

For the last fifteen years, I've ridden in the BC Lung Association's Bicycle Trek for Life and Breath. The event is held every September as a fund-raiser for the organisation, with all the cyclists soliciting donations to support services provided by the association for institutions and individuals.
The Trek is a 200 Km ride. The first day is 100 Kms from Hazelmere RV Park, South Surrey, BC, to Stillwood Camp & Conference Centre, which is above Cultus Lake near Chilliwack, BC. We all then return on a slightly different 100 Kms back to Hazelmere on the next day. Over 400 riders are involved together with scads of helpful volunteers to keep everybody fuelled up and on the right track. In 2009 we had over 400 riders participating and we raised over $425,000.00 to benefit the residents of BC with lung health programs, research into lung disease, kid's asthma camps, clean air advocacy and Better Breather Clubs.
Great camaraderie, and there's always help along the route in case of mishaps or breakdowns; along with tons of food and refreshments for all the hungry Trekkers.
I'm already signed up for the September Trek in 2010 - can't wait - this will be year number 16 for me - and that's also going to be my Trekker number for the ride too!
